It has a reasonable top speed of 7.5 mph and you can get to this speed pretty quickly. The speed can be adjusted, and it’s easy to control this RC vehicle from a distance of 60 meters – ideal if you accidentally drive it into the middle of a lake!
On land, it does well on most terrains including grass, dirt and concrete. It’s lightweight and flexible, and I found mastering the controls to be fairly straightforward.
It’s made from ABS aviation plastic which gives it great durability and waterproofing. A quick thing to note is that before using it in water you need to plug the whole on the base with a waterproof plug. After use, open the drain plug and allow the water to drain. It is easy to miss this step!

- You’ll first need to decide what type of amphibious RC vehicle you are after. I’ve recommended a range of types, from monster trucks to stunt cars. Do you prioritize speed, the ability to tackle different terrains or stunts?
- Consider the vehicle’s performance on both land and water. Does it move quickly on water, or does it noticeably slow down? Some amphibious vehicles have propellers or paddle-like attachments.
- Think about the battery life. Nowadays lots of RC vehicles come with two batteries, but you can still be caught out if the batteries have a short run time.
- While I don’t think too much about the brand, this can still be worth considering. I’ve only recommended RC cars from reliable brands, but I still recommend reading reviews before you make a purchase.
